Charity donations made by children rise by more than 200% in 2022, says UK account provider
A study of more 400,000 children’s spending activity has shown a marked increase in donations to charity in 2022.
Gohenry, a UK account provider aimed at children, analysed the spending behaviour of 435,000 UK children’s accounts, using their prepaid contactless cards.
Amounts given to charity increased by 265% in the first half of 2022. The Financial Times reports that over £435,000 was donated to charities by children in the period- compared to £120,000 the year before.
‘When I first saw this data, my instant reaction was that can’t be right – but it is’, gohenry co-founder Louise Hill told the Fianncial Times. ‘Customers told us their children realised there were lots of people in worse situations than they were.’
